The Capelli K6 opens up a category that is still rare in radio control: the 1/6 scale competition kart. Developed over more than two years by the Australian company Capelli, based in Geelong in the state of Victoria, this electric chassis aims to reproduce the behaviour of a full-size KZ kart while offering the tuning options expected from a modern RC chassis. The project belongs to Ryan Capel, the brand’s founder, who sums up his philosophy bluntly: “No painted body shells. No tyre chemistry degree required. Just proper R/C racing.”

Capelli K6: a two-piece forged carbon chassis

The basis of the Capelli K6 is a forged carbon fibre chassis made of two parts, joined by a central pitching damper tasked with controlling flex — a principle that reproduces the way a real kart’s tubular chassis works in torsion. Around that structure, the brand has multiplied the adjustments available: camber, caster, toe, Ackermann, ride height, and weight distribution thanks to an adjustable brass weight placed opposite the motor.

The electronics integration has been carefully thought out: the receiver hides inside the driver figure, and a 30 mm fan blows directly onto the speed controller to keep temperatures in check during a run.

Technical specifications

  • Wheelbase: 181 to 185 mm
  • Front track: 203 to 207 mm — rear track: 222 to 232 mm
  • Weight: around 900 g with electronics
  • 540 brushless motor, 1S or 2S LiPo compatible
  • 36 mm diameter wheels, 1/12 size foam tyres (carpet and asphalt)
  • Ball differential, 64 pitch gearing

Kit contents, price and availability

The Capelli K6 is sold as a rolling chassis: forged carbon parts, CNC-machined aluminium components, a full ball differential, a brass weight, KZ-style bodywork available in seven colours, foam tyres, wheels and a detailed manual. The motor, speed controller, servo, a 2-channel radio, the LiPo battery and the gearing still have to be added.

Expect 695 Australian dollars for the bare chassis, and 15 to 21.50 Australian dollars for a set of foam tyres, offered in two compounds (GREEN and PURPLE). Spare parts range from 10 to 139 Australian dollars. Capelli ships worldwide from Australia, with an import handling surcharge for US customers.
