Xray is expanding the tuning options for its 1/8 off-road cars with two new carbon rear arm inserts, compatible with the XB8 buggy and the XB8 GT. The stated aim: stiffen the rear suspension when the track gets really grippy.
A lower plate to stiffen the rear suspension
The first item is a carbon plate that mounts under the rear arm, held by four screws. It increases rear suspension stiffness and, according to Xray, brings more stability and precision as traction rises. The quick fitting is a real advantage: four screws are enough to go from a soft setup to a firm one between two heats, without stripping the car down.
An upper plate for maximum rigidity
The second insert mounts on top of the arm. Used on its own it already stiffens the assembly; combined with the lower plate it delivers the maximum arm rigidity the brand offers. That pairing limits flex and gives a freer rear suspension feel while keeping handling stable.
Thicker US-made carbon
Both inserts are machined from premium-quality carbon fibre made in the USA, in a greater thickness than the usual thin plates. That is what makes the stiffness gain genuinely noticeable rather than merely cosmetic.
The use case is clear: medium to high-traction tracks, where the goal is to settle the rear end and gain cornering speed. On slippery ground, the stock configuration remains the better bet.
