Taiwanese racing-option specialist T-Work’s has just opened a whole chapter of its catalogue to the Tamiya TRF421X. Four part numbers appeared at once on the brand’s official shop, all dedicated to Tamiya‘s high-end 1/10 touring car: titanium hardware, titanium turnbuckles, a bearing kit and a gold-plated steel screw set. Enough to redo all the fasteners and the whole shaft line of a TRF421X without looking anywhere else.
T-Work’s Tamiya TRF421X: an option range in four part numbers
The TRF421X is the “pro” version of Tamiya‘s in-house touring chassis, the one that plays on chassis flex through shims and dedicated hardware. That is exactly the ground T-Work’s is moving onto, with complete kits rather than individual parts: each part number replaces an entire area of the chassis in one go. All four kits are named after the model (TRF421X suffix) and follow the brand’s usual logic: titanium for performance, plated steel for budget.
64 titanium UFO Head hardware: 125 screws for the TRF421X
The centrepiece is part number TSSU-TRF421X, a complete set of 125 screws in 64 titanium — the well-known Ti-6Al-4V alloy — with UFO heads. This is the kit that really shows on the scales: swapping the steel hardware of a complete touring car for titanium means several tens of grams saved, and above all weight removed high up on the chassis. The UFO head, with its wide tapered seat, spreads the clamping load better across the carbon and limits marking on the decks. Expect 127.68 dollars for the full set.
Titanium turnbuckles and precision bearings
Part number TB-TRF421X uses the same 64 titanium in turnbuckle form, with a reinforced centre section to take knocks without bending. They fit the standard rod ends from the Tamiya kit, which makes them a direct replacement with no extra hardware, at 27.99 dollars. Alongside it, the BBS-TRF421X kit gathers the chassis’ 32 bearings in precision spec, to get back free, long-lasting rotation where play and corrosion always end up eating a few tenths: 31.36 dollars for the complete set.
The affordable gold-plated steel alternative
For those who do not want to pay titanium money, T-Work’s offers part number GSS-TRF421X, a set of 124 gold-plated stainless steel screws. There is no weight saving over stock, but the steel quality and the surface treatment prevent rounded heads and corrosion on a chassis that gets stripped down often. At 17.50 dollars, it is the logical entry point before moving up to titanium. All four kits are announced as available from the manufacturer’s online shop.
