After renaming its entire low profile servo range in early August, ProTek RC is applying the same logic to the rest of its catalogue. Four part numbers are changing name: a mini servo aimed at 1/12 pan cars and three standard-size servos, all announced with a lifetime gear warranty.
ProTek RC servos: the PTK-185MINI targets 1/12 pan cars
The PTK-185MINI, which replaces part number PTK-500BL, is the only one in the group that is not standard size. Designed for 1/12 pan cars, it is rated at 186 oz/in of torque (around 13.4 kg/cm) and a 0.06 s transit speed at 7.4 V, for $89.99. In a class where available space and onboard weight matter as much as response speed, the compromise is what counts.
Three renamed standard servos
- PTK-355T (formerly PTK-130T): standard high-torque metal gear servo for 1/10 and 1/8 vehicles — $89.99
- PTK-215T (formerly PTK-100T): entry-level high-torque version, metal gears — $49.99
- PTK-165S (formerly PTK-100SS): entry-level “super speed” version, metal gears — $49.99
ProTek RC presents these four servos as proven platforms, refreshed rather than redesigned from scratch, with claimed gains in performance and durability. The new naming scheme follows the same rule as the one adopted for the low profile range: the number indicates the order of magnitude of the torque, the final letter the servo’s purpose (T for torque, S for speed).
Lifetime gear warranty
As with the low profile range, these four part numbers come with a lifetime gear warranty through AMain Hobbies, the brand’s distributor. That argument carries weight in off-road, where the steering servo’s gear train is the first casualty of contact with a stake or a kerb.
