T-Work’s continues its work on Team Associated‘s 1:28 micro touring car with two new transmission options: the TE-213-TC28 aluminium and TE-249-TC28 spring steel differential outdrives. Two opposite approaches to the same part, to be chosen according to how the car is used.
The aluminium version: shedding rotating weight on the RC28
The TE-213-TC28 is machined from 7075-T6 aluminium with a hard surface treatment intended to limit wear, the usual weak point of aluminium on a drive component. The claimed saving is around 0.36g compared with the stock part. On a 1:28 car, that mass removed from the rotating assembly translates directly into sharper throttle response and a slightly higher top speed.
The steel version: lasting without deforming
The TE-249-TC28, for its part, is cut from spring steel and presented as a lightweight part for front and rear differentials. Here the aim is no longer mass but durability: steel copes better with the stresses in the RC28 transmission and holds its dimensions, which preserves how the differential works run after run.
Two low-cost options
The prices announced by T-Work’s remain modest, at 7.70 USD for the aluminium set and 9.79 USD for the steel set. Enough to make an RC28 transmission more reliable or lighter without committing to the budget of a chassis option.
