Aluminum shock standoffs for the RC8B4.2
American tuner Schelle Racing is rounding out its option range for the 1/8 nitro and electric platform from Team Associated with a set of aluminum shock standoffs, part number ASC81657. These bushings sit between the shock body and the shock tower of the RC8B4.2 and replace the parts supplied in the kit.
The subject looks trivial, but it isn’t: the standoff is what sets the exact height at which the shock bolts to the tower. A machined set, with a dimension that stays consistent from one piece to the next, ensures all four shocks really work within the same geometry — the basic requirement for a spring or oil change to translate into something readable on track.
Two sizes, 12.5 and 16 mm, identified by a machined groove
The set contains the two lengths most used on the platform, 12.5 mm and 16 mm. Schelle Racing has machined an identification groove on one of the two sizes, a welcome detail when you strip a dust-covered car mid-meeting and don’t want to reassemble two different heights on each side.
The standoffs are deliberately shorter than the stock parts, precisely to account for the thickness of the carbon fiber shock towers fitted front and rear. This is the typical case of a prepped chassis, where switching to carbon shifts the shock position unless the standoff is revised.
Hard-anodized aluminum, fasteners included
The parts are hard-anodized aluminum, a treatment that gives a far more abrasion-resistant surface than conventional decorative anodizing — useful on a bearing surface that constantly takes shock loads. The fasteners needed for installation come in the bag, so there is nothing else to order.
Compatibility: the whole RC8B4 and RC8T4 line
The set covers a broad range at Team Associated: RC8B4.2 and RC8B4.2e, RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e, the first-generation RC8B4, plus the RC8T4 and RC8T4e truggies. In other words, the same part number follows the chassis from one evolution to the next, which is worth something if you own several cars in the family.
Price and availability
Part number ASC81657 is listed at $18 on the Schelle Racing store, posted on 29 August 2026 and available immediately. It joins the 96-tooth 64-pitch Nova spur gear announced by the brand two days earlier.
