Pro-Motion RC Checkmate: a carpet tyre designed for high grip

With the indoor season approaching, Pro-Motion RC is pushing its Checkmate tread into the spotlight. This 2.2 inch rear carpet tyre, offered in the brand’s LP (low profile) casing, specifically targets very high traction tracks, the ones where conventional compounds end up spinning on power or deforming under load.

Larger directional pins

The recipe lies in the pattern: directional pins noticeably bigger than on the manufacturer’s other carpet treads. The stated aim is twofold, with crisp acceleration out of corners and better casing stability as the track heats up. Within the Pro-Motion RC carpet range, the Checkmate therefore sits above the more all-round Viper and the Fury, which is aimed more at front-end steering.

Three compounds to cover every condition

The Checkmate comes in three compounds clearly identified by colour: green C3, the hardest, for very high-bite tracks, warm conditions and weekends where wear resistance matters most; red C4, the medium, aiming for a balance of steering, grip, consistency and tyre life; and white C5, the softest, to be used when temperatures drop or the carpet lacks bite.

Price and packaging

The Checkmate LP 2.2″ rear tyre (part number 3095-C3 for the C3 compound) is sold in pairs with two inserts, at a promotional price of $17.99 instead of $22.49. Two pre-mounted versions are also available, on white or yellow wheels, listed at $23.95 instead of $29.94.
