Pro-Motion RC Slide Job: a tread designed for dirt oval
Pro-Motion RC unveiled the PMRC Slide Job on 7 August, a bar tyre aimed at 1/10 dirt oval racing. The American manufacturer claims an approach directly inherited from full-scale oval racing, both in looks and in the way it is tuned, in a discipline where side grip adjustment makes all the difference.
A reversible outer bar to dial in side bite
The most interesting part of the tread is its directional outer bar: it can be flipped to give two distinct configurations and therefore two levels of side bite, without swapping tyre sets. Around it, the pattern combines several bar widths, doubled-up bars and two different pin designs, in a pin/bar hybrid logic that seeks to reconcile straight-line drive with predictable break-away through the corners.
Two part numbers and five compounds
The Slide Job is available as a 2.2 inch rear (part number 4075-R-T1) and a 2.2 inch front for two-wheel-drive cars. Each pack contains two tyres and two of the brand’s Advanced Cell inserts. On the compound side, the catalogue offers five options — T1, T2, Double Dot, Clay and Oro — enough to cover everything from freshly watered heavy dirt to the dry, polished surfaces of the end of the day.
Price
Both part numbers are listed at $21.99 per pair instead of $27.49 on the Pro-Motion RC store, currently on backorder following the launch.
