Mofo RC Stingray: the SCX24 goes competition spec

The little Axial SCX24 has never been short of options, but few reposition it quite so squarely on competition ground. With the Stingray, Mofo RC offers a complete Class 3 chassis kit, designed and machined in Texas, that rebuilds the core structure of the 1/24 crawler around club-level comp crawling.

7075 aluminium and Nylon 12

The chassis and links are machined from mil-spec 7075 aluminium, while the plastic parts are made from Nylon 12. The package runs a 172.5 mm wheelbase and an optimised 13.25-degree skid plate angle, with a centre of gravity deliberately placed below the chassis centre line — the key metric in crawling.

Everything is adjustable

The manufacturer sums up the kit’s philosophy itself: everything on this chassis is meant to be tuned. There are six front and eight rear upper link positions, a multi-position carrier bearing, numerous shock mounting points and built-in rubber band mounts. The front lower links carry integrated weighted sliders, and the hinging magnetic motor cover gives instant access to the electronics. The chassis is designed around Mofo RC Pancake motors, accepts MEUS dig mounting holes (with some plastic trimming) as well as front and rear Unicorn body mounting holes. The upper rails and magnetic cover can be removed to make room for other body shells.

Contents, price and online tools

The kit includes the aluminium chassis rails, links, nylon side boards, skid plate, magnetic motor cover, carrier bearing with short shaft, hardware and stainless steel nut wrenches. Motor, servo, axles, shocks, wheels and tyres are still to be supplied.
