New collector’s item announced by Kyosho: the Japanese manufacturer confirms the reissue of its cult 1980s buggy in its Vintage Series, with a release scheduled for December. Listed as reference 30626 on the manufacturer’s website, this kit faithfully revives the architecture that made the original model a success while keeping the racing spirit that made it famous.
Kyosho Ultima Pro: a spec sheet faithful to its origins
The chassis remains a pressed 6061 aluminium plate, paired with an FRP upper deck, for rigidity close to the original. The oil-filled shocks, adjustable front and rear and finished in gold, allow precise adjustment of ride height and on-track behaviour. Wheelbase is set at 280 mm, and the buggy runs on 2.2-inch tyres mounted on 8-hole wheels, with a limited-slip ball differential for the drivetrain.
A detail that will please purists: this reissue of the Kyosho Ultima Pro doesn’t just replicate the 1988 version. It also incorporates the wider front suspension arms introduced by the 1989 XL update, a choice that improves stability while staying true to the original model’s DNA. The polycarbonate body is molded from the historic tooling, decals included.
This announcement fits with Kyosho’s strategy of regularly reviving legendary chassis that marked the history of 1/10 2WD racing, alongside other reissues in the Vintage Series. European pricing and availability remain to be confirmed, but the Japanese release is set for December, with a local price announced at 66,000 yen.
