The 2026 IFMAR 1:8 Nitro Buggy World Championship is entering its decisive phase at the Thornhill Racing Circuit in Texas. Turkish driver Burak Kilic, driving his Mugen Seiki, set the fastest time of the sixth and final free practice session (FP6), clocking 1:51.195 over three consecutive laps.

Canas and Phend close behind Kilic

Kilic narrowly beat Juan Carlos Canas (SWorkz), second in this final session, and Dakotah Phend (Xray), third. Across the full week of practice, however, defending world champion Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) still holds the fastest overall time, set in free practice 5 at 1:51.133, despite finishing seventh in this last session.

Qualifying rounds of this IFMAR 1:8 Nitro Buggy World Championship began on September 29 at the Texas circuit, with an international field of the discipline’s top specialists built around Ongaro, Kilic and Canas.
