The fire-resistant LiPo case is the accessory everyone puts off buying, right up until the day a pack swells on the charger. The French association RCmag has got its hands on the Fire Case range from HRC Racing and published a first-look video on 19 August 2026.
Three sizes of fire-resistant LiPo case at HRC Racing
HRC Racing offers its Fire Case in several sizes, covering both the driver charging two 2S packs and the one carrying a full weekend’s worth of batteries: the M version measures 250 x 180 x 185 mm for around 1,270 g, the L version moves up to 350 x 250 x 210 mm for around 1,730 g, and a considerably larger XL version rounds out the range. All of them use a rigid shell lined with flexible fireproof foam that also acts as padding during transport.
AFC technology, cable pass-through and markings
The brand highlights its AFC (Anti Fire Components) technology, designed to limit the spread of a thermal runaway, a Caution marking on the lid and a cable pass-through that allows the case to be closed while charging. That is exactly the point RCmag checks: a case that forces you to leave the lid open to route the leads loses much of its purpose.
Soft bag or hard case?
The soft fibreglass LiPo bag, such as the 210 x 160 x 150 mm model also offered by HRC Racing, remains the cheapest solution and the easiest to slip into a pit box. The hard case, on the other hand, also protects the packs mechanically and sits flat next to the charger: two complementary approaches rather than competing ones, as the video points out.
