The HNMC Summer Series closed out its 2026 edition on 17 August with a sixth and final round run on a reworked layout. Three classes were on the programme — 1/8 nitro buggy, e-buggy and truggy — and three different winners came out of it.

In 1/8 nitro buggy, the win went to Charlie Ware, running a Team Associated chassis. Antony Williams completed the front-row pairing by finishing second, ahead of James Clarke in third. A tight podium that reflects the level reached by the club’s premier class over the course of the summer season.

The e-buggy class saw Darren Warburton take the win, with Peter Van Tonder in second position and Dave Shedd on the third step. The electric format continues to gain ground at this type of meeting, where the absence of refuelling simplifies the organisation of the mains while remaining very competitive on track.

In truggy, it was Trevell Richards who took the win at this closing round, confirming the vitality of a class that remains well represented in British summer series.

A new layout well received

The club had redesigned its track for this final round of the HNMC Summer Series, a gamble praised by the drivers in attendance. Jim Thompson, chairman of the HNMC, took stock of a summer series that saw all six of its meetings through to the end.
