One year after the launch of the MS2.0, Yokomo has made the Yokomo MS2.1 official, the latest evolution of its 1/10 Master Speed competition touring car. The Japanese manufacturer released a CAD image of the car as the ISTC World Championship approaches: it will be held in November at the Huge RC track in Thailand.
Yokomo MS2.1: a drivetrain refocused on the rear belt
The most notable change on the Yokomo MS2.1 concerns the position of the rear belt, which has been moved closer to the battery. Yokomo‘s stated goal is to optimise the forces transmitted to the centre pulley as motor power increases. In the same spirit, the spacing between the two centre pulley bearings has been increased in order to limit wobble of the assembly under load.
Longer front suspension and lower centre of gravity
At the front, the suspension arms gain 1 mm in length and come with new shock positioning. The motor mount has been raised by 0.5 mm, which allows thinner chassis to be used without any risk of contact. Added to this are new shock parts along with redesigned front and rear towers, which lower the car’s centre of gravity — standard practice in 1/10 touring, but decisive for grip on carpet as well as on asphalt.
Three chassis specs and an MS2.0 conversion kit
The Yokomo MS2.1 will be offered in three chassis specifications: carbon, aluminium and steel, to be chosen according to the surface and grip level of the track. Drivers already running an MS2.0 have not been forgotten, since Yokomo is announcing a conversion kit. The price and release date of the MS2.1 have not yet been announced.
