The Yokomo RS2.0 1/10 touring kit gains a variant that moves it well away from its entry-level status: the Japanese brand has announced a version fitted from the factory with aluminium short shocks and 3.5mm graphite shock towers, under part number RSR-020-1.

The Rookie Speed range was born to offer an on-road chassis that is easy to build and to set up, without catching out the beginner. The RS2.0 keeps that logic but steps up on the suspension side: where the base version makes do with composite shocks, this variant arrives with high-precision machined aluminium bodies. Yokomo explains that these cylinders absorb both sudden inputs and fine vibrations, which translates into a tyre that stays in contact with the track for longer.

The short shocks come with 3.5mm thick graphite towers on both ends. The aim is the same as on racing chassis: stiffen the suspension mounting points so that body movements stay readable. In practice, the brand claims less dive under braking and steadier support on corner entry, two typical shortcomings of a softly built learner touring car.

Dual-belt drive retained

Under the body, the chassis keeps the dual-belt drivetrain the platform is known for: neutral behaviour, predictable wear and limited maintenance. That is what lets Yokomo aim wide with this kit, from the driver discovering 1/10 touring to the one looking for a reliable base for club racing without investing in a top-tier chassis.

Part number and price

The build-it-yourself kit is listed as RSR-020-1 and priced at 27,800 yen excluding tax at Yokomo. It is a complete kit to assemble: electronics, motor, radio, battery and body are still to be sourced.
