Mugen Seiki‘s 1:10 touring car programme is continuing. After several weeks of speculation about the future of the MTC3 platform, the Japanese brand has issued an unambiguous clarification: it has no intention of discontinuing or downsizing its commitment to 1:10 electric touring.

Mugen Seiki sets the record straight on its 1:10 touring car programme

The statement, relayed by Mugen Seiki‘s European arm, answers a persistent rumour born of two closely spaced departures. The message is direct: the brand is not planning to end or mothball its 1:10 touring car programme, and the MTC3 is still being developed by the technical team.

Two departures behind the rumours

The first is Robert Piesch, the designer of the brand’s touring cars, who left at the end of 2025 after sixteen years of collaboration. The second, far more widely reported, is Ronald Völker: the German driver left the team mid-season to join RC Maker, leaving the brand without a headline name in ISTC.

For Mugen Seiki, such moves are nothing out of the ordinary: team changes are a common occurrence in this sport and should not be read as a sign of industrial disengagement.

The MTC3 is still under development

The brand stresses one point: the MTC3 platform continues to evolve in the hands of its design office, and its commitment to the project remains unchanged. That reassurance matters to current owners of the car, who often worry about spares and option support drying up once a factory driver leaves.

One question the statement does not answer remains: who will fly the Mugen Seiki flag in 1:10 touring at the highest level at the next international events.
