Front-wheel drive has carved out a place of its own in 1/10 touring, but not every chassis has a conversion kit. Krazed Builds fills that gap for one of the most popular platforms around with the 7XF, a package that switches the Tamiya TRF421 to FWD without throwing away the original parts.
A 7075-T6 aluminium chassis and plenty of carbon
The centrepiece of the kit is a 7075-T6 aluminium chassis with a brushed finish, as anodising is not offered. It comes with two 2 mm carbon top decks, one front and one rear, which act as flex tuning levers. Also included are a 4 mm carbon rear body mount, two carbon shims for the rear shock towers and two adjustable carbon battery holders.
Up to 70 g of nose weight
As is often the case in FWD, weight distribution makes the difference. The 7XF gets a 3D printed TPU front bumper, with the file offered as a free download, topped by a carbon plate drilled and tapped to accept cylindrical weights. The kit takes up to 70 g and is stated to be compatible with Awesomatix 5 g and 10 g weights. Note, however, that those weights are not supplied and have to be bought separately.
A new belt and symmetrical flex
Repositioning the motor mount and centre pulley calls for a new belt, which is also included. Krazed Builds stresses the platform’s philosophy: keep every original TRF421 part and deliver symmetrical flex where it is useful. Release is targeted for 1 September 2026, subject to final testing.
