Willspeed: a 39T PEEK idler gear for the R1 Wurks R1B

Willspeed adds the R1 Wurks R1B buggy to its compatibility list with a machined PEEK idler gear in 39 tooth. The British manufacturer is applying one of its signature products to a car that recently arrived on the market.

This idler gear sits in the R1B transmission. It is machined from solid, which guarantees a consistent tooth profile and minimal run-out, two points that directly affect drivetrain efficiency and noise.

Why PEEK

PEEK, or polyetheretherketone, is an engineering polymer known for its mechanical strength, heat resistance and wear resistance. On a 1/10 buggy drivetrain, these three qualities translate into a gear that keeps its geometry even after long sessions and that does not become the weak point of the driveline.

According to Willspeed, its PEEK gear range has gained a strong reputation for ultimate reliability and efficiency, and it is that experience which is now carried over to the R1B.
