Tuning options for 1/8th off-road keep piling up at T-Work’s. The Taiwanese specialist in carbon and titanium parts has just added a pair of carbon fibre side guards to its catalogue, referenced TO-338-S14-4 and designed for the SWorkz S14-4 chassis.
Carbon fibre side guards made for the SWorkz S14-4
On a 1/8th buggy, the sides of the chassis take everything: dirt spray, gravel, contact in the pack and awkward landings. Side guards therefore play a double role, protecting the chassis plate and the on-board electronics on one hand, and contributing to overall stiffness on the other. That is exactly the ground on which T-Work’s positions this TO-338-S14-4 set, cut to fit the SWorkz S14-4 rather than adapted from a universal part.
The brand highlights machining in a carbon fibre intended to keep handling consistent run after run, while cutting weight compared with the stock guards. The gain happens at a sensitive point of the chassis, on the sides and up high, where a few grams less have a direct effect on the centre of gravity of a 1/8th.
What the TO-338-S14-4 set contains
- one left-hand carbon side guard;
- one right-hand carbon side guard;
- the required mounting hardware.
The complete set is listed at $69.90 on the official T-Work’s store, in the option parts by vehicle section.
An increasingly well-stocked SWorkz S14-4 range
The S14-4 remains a safe bet in 1/8th nitro competition, and third-party option makers keep devoting specific part numbers to it. T-Work’s had already widened its offering recently with carbon shock towers for Yokomo and titanium centre driveshafts for Kyosho; these side guards now round out the brand’s carbon line on the 1/8th off-road side.
