Taiwanese option specialist T-Work’s is expanding its competition hardware range with the TP-195-D, a set of four M4 reverse-thread titanium wheel nuts machined from grade 64 titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). The idea is simple: shed weight at the outer edge of the wheel, where every gram counts the most, without giving up any clamping reliability.
Titanium wheel nuts sized for the 1/8 buggy
Grade 64 titanium is the classic trade-off for high-end chassis parts: significantly lighter than steel at comparable mechanical strength. T-Work’s applies it here to a part that gets removed several times over a race day, and that has to cope with both engine vibration and landing impacts. Machining the nut from solid stock lets the brand claim a very thin part while, according to it, keeping high structural strength.
The M4 pitch and the reverse thread place these nuts squarely in 1/8 buggy and competition truggy territory, where the wheel’s direction of rotation can work against a conventional thread. That is exactly what a reverse thread is meant to cancel out: the wheel’s movement tends to tighten the nut rather than release it.
An 11.9 mm flange against loosening
The main technical argument is not the material but the geometry. The flange measures 11.9 mm in diameter, meaning a deliberately wide bearing surface against the wheel. That enlarged contact area spreads the clamping load more evenly instead of concentrating it on a narrow ring around the thread, which limits plastic deformation and, above all, gradual loosening under vibration.
The contact face is also serrated, a common piece of machining on competition wheel nuts: the micro-teeth bite slightly into the wheel and add a mechanical lock to the clamping force. Combined with the low profile, the whole assembly also reduces the amount of material sticking out of the hub, and therefore the risk of catching track debris.
Part number and availability
The nuts are listed as TP-195-D and sold in sets of four, enough for a complete car. The price shown on the official T-Work’s store is 12.46 US dollars per set. In Europe, the brand is carried by several specialist dealers, notably in France, where T-Work’s part numbers are widely available.
