The suspense only lasted a day. One day after announcing his departure from Mugen Seiki, Ronald Volker revealed his new destination: the German driver, 2016 electric 1/10 touring world champion, becomes a full-time factory driver for RC Maker. A major signing for the Australian brand, which only entered the complete chassis world in 2024.
Almost twenty years of friendship with Ryan Maker
The move is anything but impulsive. Ronald Volker recalls meeting Ryan Maker at the 2008 World Championship, a meeting followed by an unbroken friendship ever since. The head of RC Maker, himself a touring car racer, speaks of almost twenty years of relationship and describes the signing as an honour as much as a milestone for his brand, stressing the German’s performance consistency.
The SP2, second generation touring car from RC Maker
Long identified with its option parts and setup accessories, RC Maker entered the complete chassis market in 2024 with the SP1. The SP2 is its evolution, and that is the car Ronald Volker will now develop in competition. The arrival of a driver of this calibre gives the brand top-level feedback at a time when the electric 1/10 touring field has never been so competitive.
First outing as soon as the following week
The German driver says he is starting immediately on building his SP2 cars, with a first race outing scheduled for the following week at Arena33. An express shakedown that will give a first glimpse of the potential of pairing one of touring’s strongest records with a manufacturer still young in the segment.
A chapter closing after six seasons
The departure from Mugen Seiki, made official the day before, ended nearly six years of collaboration. Ronald Volker had then spoken of the need to take on a new adventure: it now has a name.
