Adjusting a wheelbase on a micro crawler usually means ordering a drive shaft of the right length, then waiting. MEUS Racing offers another approach with two new sets of cuttable drive shafts put online on 1 September 2026, one for the 1/18 Traxxas TRX4M, the other for the 1/24 Axial SCX24 V2. The principle: supply a shaft that is too long and let the driver cut it down to the exact dimension of their chassis.
Cuttable drive shafts to match the length to the chassis
Both sets leave the factory 150 mm long, with cutting marks engraved on the shaft. The TRX4M version offers a stated adjustment range of 55 to 150 mm, over 95 mm of cuttable length; the SCX24 V2 version goes down to 50 mm, with 99 mm of cuttable length and, the manufacturer notes, clearer marking than on the first generation. Enough to cover a stock wheelbase as well as a stretched chassis or a home-built dig setup.
CNC machined stainless steel and wide-angle universal joints
The shafts are CNC machined from stainless steel, a choice aimed as much at hardness as at corrosion resistance — a point that matters on machines that go through water and mud. The link is a universal joint, which allows greater working angles than a plain sliding dogbone and stays quiet in use. Each shaft weighs 19.1 g on the TRX4M side and 15.5 g on the SCX24 V2 side.
Compatibility and price
The TRX4M set targets the 1/18 Traxxas TRX4M Defender, Bronco, High Trail and K10/F150. The SCX24 V2 set covers the 1/24 Axial SCX24 Gladiator, C10, Bronco, JLU, Deadbolt, AXI90081 and B17. Both are sold in pairs at $16.99 for a set of two shafts, in either silver or black finish, from MEUS Racing.
