The Hudy Series Asia stopped over in Indonesia, at the Sentul International Circuit, and it was Bowie Ginting who won the overall Open Brushless classification at the wheel of an Xray X4. The local driver finished ahead of Christian Mamesah and EC Kim after a 1/10 touring weekend run in constant heat and decided over three very close finals.

Xray X4: qualifying decided by a tenth

Qualifying turned into a head-to-head between Bowie Ginting and Nicholas Lee, the Xray factory driver who joined EC Kim for this round. The two were separated by a tenth of a second in Q1 and three tenths in Q2, before a DNF for Ginting and a last-lap mistake from Lee in Q3 played into the hands of Christian Mamesah, fastest in that round and second on the grid. EC Kim lined up fourth.

Three finals, three different winners

The first final went Christian Mamesah’s way: a mishap from Nicholas Lee first handed the lead to Bowie Ginting, before the two collided at the very last corner. Ginting hit back by winning the second leg, once again after a duel with Lee. The third final swung in the opening laps after contact between Lee and Mamesah, letting EC Kim take the lead and win the leg, while Ginting retired with a broken upper link.

The Open Brushless classification

On aggregate, Bowie Ginting keeps first place ahead of Christian Mamesah and EC Kim, who also races an Xray X4, as does Nicholas Lee in fourth. The Slovak brand therefore places three of its touring chassis in the top four of this Indonesian round.
