Frankie Contreras Jr. joins The Drake Racing in 1/8 nitro buggy

Frankie Contreras Jr. is switching teams. The Californian driver, a regular on the podium at Southern California tracks such as HuckleBerry RC Raceway or Channel Islands RC Raceway, has just made official his arrival at The Drake Racing, the outfit led by Adam Drake. This signing, announced on September 18, 2026, strengthens the roster of a team already well established on the American 1/8 nitro scene.

For this new adventure, Frankie Contreras Jr. will take the wheel of a Mugen Seiki MBX8R US Edition, the Japanese brand’s flagship 1/8 nitro buggy. Under the hood, an O.S. Speed B21 AD4 engine will provide the power, a unit that team boss Adam Drake prepares himself with great care, including break-in using an EBIS machine to guarantee optimal performance from the very first laps.
