The 2026 BRCA 1:8 nitro buggy championship delivered its verdict at Shrewsbury: Elliott Boots won the fifth and final round and, with it, a tenth British national title. A round number for the SWorkz / Reds Racing / GRP factory driver, a two-time European Champion and World Championship Top Qualifier.
BRCA 1:8 nitro: Boots commanding from qualifying
Facing 123 entries, Elliott Boots laid the foundations of his day in qualifying: fastest in three of the five rounds, he secured pole position. Erik Lykke’s Agama, the Round 3 winner at Slough, was quickest in Q4 to line up second, while Jonathan Skidmore, fastest in the opening qualifier on Xray and winner of Round 2 at Blackpool, completed the front row.
A 45-minute duel in the main
Boots won his semi-final ahead of Jonathan Skidmore, with Lykke taking the other to start third. The 45-minute main turned into a straight fight between Boots and Skidmore, settled by less than two seconds in favour of the SWorkz driver. It is his third win of the season.
Starting sixth, William Skidmore produced the charge of the day to grab the final step of the podium. Erik Lykke, meanwhile, dropped back to fifth in the closing stages.
Final championship standings
Overall, Jonathan Skidmore finishes the championship second and Erik Lykke third, behind an Elliott Boots who also adds a fifth consecutive BRCA title to his record.
