A double win for Xray: Alessio Mazzeo, the reigning IFMAR 1/8 GT World Champion, joins the Slovakian brand to race 1/10 and 1/8 nitro on-road. The announcement comes at the best possible moment of the season.
Alessio Mazzeo at Xray: a GT world champion joins the ranks
The Italian driver is coming off a landmark season: in Chile, he swept both GT world titles, in nitro and electric alike. He also remains the lead driver for Raptor and engine manufacturer G-mar Engines, two roles he keeps alongside his new commitment.
A comeback, not a discovery
Mazzeo already knows the brand well: he raced for Serpent at the 2016 World Championship in Gubbio, where he stood on the podium. His arrival at Xray therefore feels more like a reunion than a classic transfer — the driver himself described a story “meant to continue,” thanking the team.
A nitro touring world championship year
The timing is no coincidence: the current season is that of the 1/10 nitro touring world championship. Fielding a driver of this caliber on both the 1/10 and 1/8 track gives Xray a serious hand to play on both fronts, in categories where the smallest tenth of a second per lap counts hard over a one-hour final.
