It is one of the first major 1/8 off-road meetings of the American season: The Dirt has just made official the dates for the 2027 Dirt Nitro Challenge. The event will run from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 March 2027 at the Perris Fairgrounds, in California.
2027 Dirt Nitro Challenge: the five-day programme
Racing opens on Wednesday 10 March with two rounds of open practice from 8 am, before moving on to qualifying in mid-week. The mains are scheduled for Sunday. True to the event’s tradition, Saturday evening hosts a drivers social reserved for those over 21, as much a reunion as a moment of relaxation between two days on track.
Four classes and numerous divisions
The entry list is built around four main categories: 1/8 nitro buggy, 1/8 electric buggy, 1/8 nitro truck and 1/8 electric truck. Each is then subdivided into Sportsman, Intermediate and Pro levels, to which age-based 40+ and 50+ classifications are added. A structure that allows the Dirt Nitro Challenge to welcome factory drivers and amateurs discovering a big entry list alike.
Entries
Registration is already open on The Dirt‘s website, with the organiser recommending signing up early given the event’s usual attendance. The Perris Fairgrounds remains the setting for the event, with its temporary track built specifically for the occasion.
