Jilles Groskamp is switching engine builders. The Dutch driver, holder of one of the richest track records in 1/8 nitro off-road, has just signed a multi-year contract with Ielasi Tuned. He will now run the Italian brand’s Corsa engines in his nitro Infinity chassis.
Jilles Groskamp and Ielasi Tuned: a multi-season deal
The announcement comes from the engine builder itself, which says it is honoured to welcome a driver of this calibre. For Ielasi Tuned, still a young name in the racing engine market, landing a signature like this is worth every press release: it is the most direct technical endorsement there is.
The driver himself makes no secret of his enthusiasm. Groskamp says he is excited and very happy to join Ielasi Tuned engines for his nitro Infinity cars, and takes the opportunity to praise Daniele and Sabrina, the two people behind the brand, whom he describes as among the hardest-working and nicest people in the industry.
First outing at ENS Aigen
There is no waiting around to validate the hardware. The driver is due to use his new Corsa engines at the ENS round in Aigen, Austria. A demanding track, ideal for gauging the smoothness and power of a fresh engine before the big events.
Target: the Gubbio World Championship
The real test comes next, at the World Championship held in Gubbio, Italy. The partnership between Jilles Groskamp and Ielasi Tuned will be watched very closely: a world title won with a Corsa engine would immediately place the brand among the top engine builders in the class.
