R1 Wurks sheds even more weight from its 1/10 buggy with a new drivetrain option: the ultra-lightweight titanium rear driveshafts for the R1B (part no. 920341). Rated at 4.85g per pair, they claim 47.4% less mass than the stock steel shafts.
Grade 5 titanium, machined in-house
These rear driveshafts are machined from Ti 6Al-4V grade 5 titanium, an alloy well known for its strength-to-weight ratio. R1 Wurks states the parts are precision Swiss-machined in-house, with tight tolerances to guarantee a perfect fit inside the R1B’s drive cups.
Less rotating mass, more responsiveness
The benefit is twofold: reducing rotating mass and unsprung mass. On a 1/10 2WD buggy, this translates concretely into:
- sharper acceleration and more immediate throttle response
- stronger, easier-to-modulate braking
- more direct power transfer to the ground
- an overall livelier feel through weight-transfer changes
