Tamiya published its official October release list in early September 2026, and 1/10 off-road takes pride of place with the Tamiya DN-01 SR, item 58761. This is not a new chassis but an “SR” version of the DN-01 2WD buggy: the same kit, supplied from the factory with the selection of options racers have until now been adding part by part.
A DN-01 SR chassis kit supplied with its factory options
The kit’s logic is simple: Tamiya has picked the hop-ups that genuinely matter on a 2WD race buggy and built them into the box. It includes a slipper clutch to smooth out torque delivery and improve stability off the line, aluminium suspension mounts and a reinforced motor plate for durability, assembly universal shafts to fit in place of the usual dogbones, and above all hex hubs.
That last point is the most significant: moving to hex hubs opens the chassis up to the huge aftermarket wheel catalogue, where the original mounting limited the choice to in-house parts. The kit also includes hex-compatible front and rear dish wheels, along with a one-piece steel front axle and its hub.
Body and wing from the TRF201
The DN-01 SR takes over the body and rear wing of the TRF201, the brand’s competition reference in the 2WD segment. The assembled model is 382 mm long. As on all Tamiya chassis kits, the motor is not supplied and remains to be chosen according to the intended class.
A release announced for October 2026
Item 58761 appears in the R/C catalogue under serial number 761 of the All Electric R/C Car range. Tamiya has not announced a price at this stage, the release list being limited to item numbers and official designations. For anyone targeting the 1/10 2WD buggy class without wanting to pile up option invoices, the “SR” format remains the clearest formula in the catalogue.
