JConcepts is putting its Top Hat LP titanium screws with JHCS drive on sale individually, a hardware family designed as much to save weight as to dress up a chassis. Eighteen part numbers cover the range, in four-screw packs sold at 18.00 dollars (MAP price 15.30 dollars).

A wide 6.75 mm head that spreads the load

The LP format came out of the way kits have evolved: Team Associated and other manufacturers started shipping their cars with large-diameter head screws. The 6.75 mm head spreads the load over a larger surface and, in many cases, removes the need for a washer. Its low profile lets it fit under Team Associated shock tower guards and slot into the tightest areas of recent kits.

The name comes from the shape of the head, whose hex drive gives it a rather formal “top hat” look. The titanium is machined to tight tolerances and offered in two anodised finishes, burnt blue or stealth black, with silver highlights left throughout the screw.

Eighteen part numbers from M3x6 to M3x22

Available lengths run from 6 to 22 mm in 2 mm steps, each existing in both colours: 5358-1 and 5358-2 in 3×6 mm, then 5359, 5360, 5361, 5362, 5363, 5364, 5365 and finally 5366-1 and 5366-2 in 3×22 mm. Each pack contains four screws, so you only buy the lengths actually needed for the build in hand — motor mounts, wing mounts, plates or any other assembly point on 1:10 off-road as well as on-road cars.

A design proven in racing since 2021

The Top Hat screw is no improvised novelty: JConcepts says it was designed during the 2021 racing season and refined through testing, before ending up on the cars of Ryan Maifield, Spencer Rivkin, Paul Wynn and Jason Ruona. The brand also reminds buyers to go through its official dealers and distributors to avoid copies.
