JConcepts keeps developing its in-house monster truck platform with an option kit that radically changes how the machine behaves: the REACTOR Rear Steer Kit, part number 9253. Its purpose is simple — add driven steering to the rear axle and turn the REACTOR into a genuine four-wheel-steer truck.
A complete kit to convert the rear axle
The kit supplies all the major components required for the conversion: aluminium caster blocks, a steering bellcrank assembly with its mounts, an aluminium servo mount, plus 23T and 25T aluminium servo horns to suit the most common servos.
For stiffness, JConcepts uses carbon fibre steering plates, backed up by steel fin turnbuckles and king pins, injection-moulded steering blocks and ball ends, aluminium pivot balls with steel bushings, and heavy-duty hardware. The build does reuse the rear axle hardware, bearings and components already found on the original REACTOR kit.
What else you will need
To make use of this rear steering you need an additional servo along with a radio system offering at least three channels. That is the price of four-wheel steering, which opens the door to tighter turning radii in manoeuvres and greater agility on the technical sections of a monster truck course.
Part number and pricing
The REACTOR Rear Steer Kit carries part number 9253 (UPC 845937041661). It is announced at $115.00 retail, with a minimum advertised price of $97.75. A premium option, but one that delivers functionality that is hard to obtain otherwise on a chassis in this category.
