Ruddog Medium inserts: a 1/10 off-road range that is finally complete

The Medium inserts from Ruddog broaden the German brand’s tyre offering in 1/10 off-road. Four part numbers arrive at once, designed to cover the full set of tyre sizes used in 2WD buggy, 4WD buggy and stadium truck, without forcing the driver to shop across several competing catalogues.

The heart of the announcement is the Medium compound itself. Ruddog describes it as a deliberate compromise between three parameters that usually pull against each other: corner speed, damping over bumps and traction on power. An insert that is too soft collapses the tyre under load and costs tenths in fast sweepers; an insert that is too firm bounces over bumps and makes the rear spin up on corner exit. Medium targets the middle ground, the one that stays usable on a track whose grip changes through the day.

Four widths to cover all of 1/10 off-road

The line-up follows current racing tyre sizes. The 2WD slim front inserts, around 18 mm wide, are aimed at 2WD buggies fitted with narrow front tyres. The 2WD/4WD front inserts, around 30 mm, match the standard buggy width. The rear inserts cover the roughly 40 mm wheels shared by 2WD and 4WD. Finally the truck version, the widest at around 55 mm, handles 1/10 stadium trucks.

Each part number ships as a four-piece pack, exactly enough for two complete pairs. On price, Ruddog stays aggressive: €4.99 for the 2WD slim front pack, €5.99 for the 2WD/4WD front as well as the rear, and €8.99 for the truck version. At that level, trying several configurations over a single race weekend is not a major investment.

A setup choice in its own right

The insert remains one of the most underrated setup items in 1/10 off-road. It governs how the carcass deforms under load, and therefore how much rubber is genuinely in contact with the ground. Having a single compound available across all four widths keeps behaviour consistent from one axle to the other, which greatly simplifies development: you change the compound or the carcass without introducing an internal damping variable at the same time.

All four part numbers are announced as available immediately from Ruddog, with a two to three working day dispatch time.
