Kyosho‘s Fazer D2 drift platform is now available as a bare chassis kit, part number 34551. A format drift racers had been asking for: no body, no imposed electronics, just the chassis to build and equip according to your own choices.

A fully adjustable 1/10 RWD drift chassis

The Fazer D2 is a pure rear-wheel-drive design, conceived from the outset for drifting rather than adapted from a touring car. Reference wheelbase is 260 mm, but it adjusts from 240 to 274 mm, enough to take both a compact saloon and a long-hood coupé. Quoted track widths are 172 mm at the front and 170 mm at the rear, for a chassis height of 12 mm.

Aluminium shocks and adjustable springs as standard

The notable point of this kit lies in its equipment: Kyosho fits aluminium oil shocks with dial-adjustable preload as standard, parts previously sold separately. The rear axle is a spool, the classic drift solution, but remains compatible with the range’s optional differentials. High-efficiency universal swing shafts complete the drivetrain, with a 9.1:1 ratio.

What still needs to be sourced

Being a bare kit, you need to add a motor, ESC, battery, R/C system with gyro, body, wheels and tyres. The gyro is not a decorative option in RWD drift: it is what manages countersteer, and the chassis is designed to work with one.

Price and demonstration

The Fazer D2 chassis kit is listed at 179.99 dollars at Kyosho America and 27,500 yen in Japan. The brand has also released a video shot at Futaba’s drift track, where the chassis is put to work through a sequence of sliding corners.
