Nexx Racing keeps equipping the Mini-Z and is launching a new generation of 19 mm front wheels called EVO, whose main argument comes down to one simple idea: completely removing the hardware that holds the side wall in place.
A side wall that screws straight into the rim
On most flanged 1/28 wheels, the outer face is held by tiny screws that are easy to lose and tedious to refit between two heats. The EVO range from Nexx Racing replaces that assembly with a thread machined directly into the side wall of the rim: the face screws into the wheel, with no hardware at all.
The benefit is twofold. On one hand, changing a side wall becomes a quick job, which matters when you break or scuff a face during a race. On the other, the manufacturer claims improved true concentricity, as the face is centred by the thread itself rather than by a set of screws.
30% carbon-filled plastic
The wheels are moulded in a plastic filled with 30% carbon fibre, a classic compromise between stiffness, impact resistance and reduced rotating mass — a decisive parameter on cars weighing only a few tens of grams.
Two front offsets are offered, 0 mm (part number NXUSA-EVO-F-0-19) and 0.5 mm (NXUSA-EVO-F-0.5-19), supplied in pairs, in black, grey, green, white or yellow. Nexx Racing is also selling the flange rings for 19 mm EVO mesh rims (NXUSA-EVO-19, pack of 20) as well as a dedicated tool for threading 19 mm side walls (NX-EVO-TOOL-19, 4 pieces).
Price and availability
The EVO 19 mm front wheels are listed at $5.99 per pair, the fitting tool at $3.99 and the pack of rings at $9.98. The manufacturer quotes availability from 15 August 2026.
