The Ruddog RCL1308V2 servo replaces the RCL1308 in the catalogue, one of the most widely used high-voltage low profile units in racing. The brand has not touched the specification sheet: the RCL1308V2 keeps the performance of the first version, but adopts a redesigned housing and a build described as more durable.
Ruddog RCL1308V2: what changes compared with the V1
The Ruddog press release is clear on the principle: same torque and speed figures, new housing design. So we are still looking at a low profile servo, with a plastic shell combined with an aluminium centre section that acts both as a stiffener and a heat sink. It is that centre section which takes the loads on the mounts, a sensitive area on steering servos in 1/10 as well as 1/8.
Ruddog RCL1308V2 servo specifications
The RCL1308V2 is a coreless servo with metal gears, running from 4.8 to 8.4V:
- Torque: 11.7 kg at 6.0V, 13.2 kg at 7.4V and 14.1 kg at 8.4V
- Speed: 0.101s at 6.0V, 0.088s at 7.4V and 0.081s at 8.4V
- Dimensions: 40.8 x 20.3 x 26.9 mm for 43.0 g
- 25T output spline, 100 mm lead
- Coreless motor, metal gears, plastic housing with aluminium centre section
The torque/speed ratio clearly places it among versatile steering servos: fast enough for on-road, with enough torque for a 1/10 off-road buggy or a touring car working in high grip.
Which chassis is it for?
The 40.8 x 20.3 x 26.9 mm low profile format is the standard for 1/10 touring cars and most modern buggies, where the height under the body and the centre of gravity matter as much as raw torque. Running on 2S LiPo (8.4V), the Ruddog servo delivers its best compromise, provided you use a high-voltage compatible receiver or regulator.
Price and availability were not announced at launch; the RCL1308V2 is distributed by Ruddog Distribution, whose products are widely available from European dealers.
