On a 1/8 nitro off-road car, the clutch is the mandatory link between a brutal engine and a chassis that has to stay driveable. Corsatec tackles the subject with a 3-shoe assembly designed specifically for its CTN7 and RS3 engines.
A steel flywheel built for the CTN7 and RS3
At the heart of the system is a steel flywheel developed for those two engines. The stated aim is finer power control: rather than chasing maximum instant bite, the brand favours a progressive build-up, the kind that lets you get back on the throttle early out of a corner without spinning all four wheels.
Aluminium shoes and a 13-tooth bell
The three shoes are made from aluminium, a choice that reduces rotating mass and limits inertia at every change of revs while aiming for good wear resistance. They work with a lightweight 13-tooth clutch bell whose geometry has been designed to optimise the pressure applied by the shoes. By cutting parasitic friction, this kind of setup also helps extend the run time from a tank of fuel, an argument that matters in long races.
Where to find it
The Corsatec clutch system is stocked by several European specialist dealers, including Wartelle Shop, Aigoin Racing and Donuts Racing, who also carry the range’s spare parts: low, medium and high inertia flywheels, 13 to 17-tooth bells and replacement shoe sets.
