The very first FEMCA Asian 1/8 GT Championship has delivered its verdict: Jeff Hamon wins after a 45-minute final controlled from start to finish, at England Park Raceway in Brisbane, Australia. A first edition originally planned for Vietnam, ultimately relocated to Australia.
Jeff Hamon unbeatable in qualifying and in the final
Having claimed TQ after posting the best time in three of the four qualifying rounds, Jeff Hamon carried that form straight into the final. At the wheel of his Capricorn-chassis GT car powered by an Ielasi Tuned engine, he controlled the race from start to finish while also setting the fastest lap of the event.
A podium reshuffled in the final five minutes
Russell Grenenger, second on the grid with his Hong Nor, held second place for most of the race before retiring five minutes from the checkered flag. Second place therefore went to New Zealander Lockie Roachie, who had qualified fourth. Starting only twelfth, Anthony Wasson produced the drive of the day to snatch third place on his Serpent, ahead of Rick Bartolozzi and his Hong Nor.
