The Team Associated RC10 4WD continues to enjoy a second life on vintage tracks, and Exotek has just added a part that was missing from the catalogue: part number 2389, a set of heavy duty steering cranks machined from solid 7075 aluminium.

Exotek 2389: why replace the RC10 4WD’s original steering cranks

On the period RC10 4WD, the steering cranks are one of the chassis’ known weak points: play that develops with running hours, flex under load, precision that fades over the course of a race day. The Exotek set attacks the problem through the material with precision machined 7075 aluminium, presented by the brand as a heavy duty assembly designed to last.

Technical details and fitting

The threads are M3 and remain compatible with the original 5.5 mm Team Associated ball studs and cups, which avoids having to redo the whole steering linkage. The bearing pockets have been re-machined to a tight tolerance to remove radial play, and the kit includes machined alloy spacer plates that considerably simplify assembly compared with a stack of washers.

Availability

Part number 2389 is offered at around 29 dollars from Exotek, a reasonable sum to make reliable the steering of a chassis that many drivers are bringing back out today in retro classes.
