On 1/8 buggies, front track width is one of those discreet adjustments that nevertheless changes a lot about corner-entry feel. T-Work’s has just added the TO-248-A spacer set to its catalogue, designed precisely for that kind of fine tuning.

Three thicknesses to fine-tune front track

The set gathers three different thicknesses: 0.35 mm, 0.75 mm and 1.4 mm. The thinnest, at 0.35 mm, is made from stainless steel, while the 0.75 and 1.4 mm shims are machined from aluminium alloy. By combining the shims, the driver gets a progressive range of settings rather than a simple either/or choice.

Fitted between ball end and steering hub

The spacers sit between the front ball end and the steering knuckle. By moving the mounting point in or out, you alter front track width and, with it, the load on the front tyres, corner-entry response and overall steering behaviour. This is exactly the kind of adjustment you tweak from one track to the next depending on available grip.

Compatibility and price

The TO-248-A is announced as compatible with Team Associated RC8, XRAY XB8, Mugen Seiki MBX and WIRC SBX 1/8 buggies. It is listed at $9.80 on the official T-Work’s store, and is also relayed by several European dealers.
