Michal Orlowski’s Schumacher took victory in the ISTC Worlds warm-up race, held in Bangkok as part of the Hudy Series Asia round hosted by Huge RC. A little over two months from the IFMAR world event in November, this dress rehearsal on the Thai indoor track had the value of a full-scale test.

An ISTC Worlds warm-up race taken very seriously by the factories

Associated with the event, Xray fielded a large delegation led by Marc Rheinard and Alexander Hagberg. Schumacher and Infinity had also sent their factory drivers, all there to gather data on an indoor asphalt surface known for its very high traction and its unusual behaviour.

In qualifying, Orlowski won the first and the last of the four rounds to secure the overall TQ. Jin Sawada, fastest in Q2, finished second, ahead of reigning world champion Bruno Coelho, who set the best time in Q3 with his Infinity.

Orlowski seals the win in the second final

Starting from pole, the Pole won A1 and then A2 ahead of Sawada, which was enough to secure overall victory. Winner of A3, the Japanese driver held on to second place. Singapore’s Nicolas Lee completed the podium with his Xray, after two third places in A1 and A3 having started from sixth on the grid.

As the Hudy Series Asia rewards five drivers on its podium, fourth step went to Marc Rheinard and fifth to Bruno Coelho.

Adam Izsay untouchable in Stock

In the Stock class, Adam Izsay’s Xray claimed both the TQ and the win. Game Mongkolphan (RC Xpress) finished second and Shin Sawada completed the top 3, also on Xray.
