Prepping tires before gluing, but with a power driver
Klinik RC is adding a small tool to its catalogue: a foam cone with a 1/4″ square drive, designed to prep RC tires before gluing. The principle is simple — the cone mounts in the chuck of an electric driver and scrubs the inside of the tire bead, exactly where the cyanoacrylate glue needs to grip.
Anyone who has glued a batch of tires knows it: 90% of the bond quality comes down to how clean the surface is. Mould release from manufacturing, a greasy fingerprint or a film of dust is enough to create a starting point for delamination that will eventually let go mid-main. Cleaning by hand with a rag does the job but takes a considerable amount of time once you are prepping four sets of tires.
Full-strength Simple Green and a blue-towel finish
Klinik RC recommends dabbing full-strength Simple Green straight onto the foam, then running the tool inside the tire. The American degreaser is a staple of RC tire prep, particularly in 1/8 off-road, where the goal is to remove the release film without attacking the rubber itself.
The brand then suggests a simple wipe with blue paper towel, the lint-free kind, and the tire is ready for glue. The cone rinses out in clean water and can be reused, avoiding a disposable consumable at every session.
One detail to know: the color isn’t guaranteed
Klinik RC states on its product page that the foam shipped may be yellow, red, blue, orange or green, depending on stock. It makes no difference in use, but it is worth knowing before ordering two matching pieces.

The cone is listed at $5.99 on the Klinik RC store, posted on 26 August 2026. It is a logical companion to the $79.99 1/8 buggy and truggy tire gluing jig the brand released a few days earlier: one cleans, the other holds while the glue sets.
