The Furitek MANTIS LCG takes on the narrowest segment of competition crawling: 1/30. This complete chassis replaces the stock platform of the Axial SCX30 with a deliberate recipe — lower the centre of gravity, gain rigidity and do away with body posts. It has been available since 28 August 2026 under part number FUR-2835.
Furitek MANTIS LCG: titanium to lower the centre of gravity
At the heart of the kit are two titanium chassis rails cut to 1mm thickness, paired with aluminium shock mounts. Mixing the two materials makes sense on a machine of this size: titanium takes torsional loads without deforming, while aluminium handles suspension forces without adding weight up top. That is the whole point of the LCG (Low Center of Gravity) designation, which consists of bringing as much mass as possible down low to limit rollovers in technical crawling.
The skid adopts a 15-degree angled geometry. That angle improves the approach angle and obstacle clearance: the chassis slides over the ledge instead of butting into it. Rock sliders are integrated directly into the sides, which avoids adding a separate accessory and protects the electronics in the event of a tumble on the rocks.
Magnetic mounting, without giving up conventional posts
The MANTIS LCG features a magnetic body mounting system. In competition the benefit is twofold: the shell comes off in a second for access to the battery or servo, and it does away with the four body posts that so often snag on branches or rock cracks. Furitek nonetheless retains the option of a traditional mount for those who prefer a mechanical fixing.
The kit comes with a clear polycarbonate competition body, light and ready to paint. The brand has thought about consumables: part number FUR-2836 offers the same pre-cut body as a spare, with the magnets already fitted, at $19.99. Good news when you know that a competition crawler shell always ends up getting marked.
Price and compatibility
The MANTIS LCG chassis kit with body is listed at $59.99 at Furitek. It is designed for modern brushless SCX30 setups, a field the brand knows well since it already supplies most of the miniature motor-and-ESC combos on the market. For a 1/30 titanium chassis, the price stays contained next to the cost of a complete kit.
