Gluing tyres remains one of the most dreaded chores in the 1/8 workshop. American brand Klinik RC offers its answer with the Ultimate Tire Glue Jig, a 1/8 tyre gluing jig designed for both buggy and truggy, listed at 79.99 dollars.
A 1/8 tyre gluing jig built on a bearing
The principle is based on a turntable fitted with a heavy-duty ball bearing. The assembly spins freely, which lets you work all the way around the tyre without picking it up again every quarter turn. No more pulling the tyre open on one side while it closes on the other.
Opening the bead without distorting the carcass
This is the tool’s key point: simply twisting the top cap spreads the tyre bead evenly all the way round. The glue can then be applied cleanly before the tyre is released with equally distributed pressure. The claimed result: no more warped carcass or gluing that pulls to one side.
Once the glue is in place, all that remains is to fit a tyre band and let it cure, following the classic method.
A compact tool refined over dozens of prototypes
Klinik RC says the Ultimate Tire Glue Jig is the result of several dozen iterations before reaching this final version. The tool is self-contained and compact: no vice or extra support needed, which makes it easy to carry in the pit box for a re-glue between heats.
