American brand MIP, a long-standing reference in RC tools and drivetrains, is adding a new size to its Gen 2 range: the 1/4 inch turnbuckle wrench. This MIP Gen 2 turnbuckle wrench fills a gap for anyone working with imperial hardware.
A slim profile for tight areas
The main selling point of the Gen 2 range lies in the shape of the tool: a deliberately slim profile that lets you reach a turnbuckle in hard-to-access areas without having to remove the surrounding parts. A good share of the time spent in the pits comes down to this kind of detail.
Careful manufacturing
The wrench is machined from steel with stated tolerances of ±.001 inch, a level of precision that limits the risk of damaging a turnbuckle’s flats during repeated adjustments. MIP has laser-engraved the size on the body of the tool and added a colour-coded identification ring, so you can pick out the right wrench at a glance in a well-stocked pit box.
Which models is it for?
The 1/4 inch size specifically targets the MIP Legend 4-10 kit as well as vintage Team Associated RC10 platforms, on which this hardware size remains the norm. A niche tool, then, but an essential one as soon as you bring a vintage chassis back to running condition.
