JConcepts has published its race team update for the first week of August 2026. The usual format: a tour of American club races and regional series, from California to Mississippi, with the results of the drivers the brand supports. This edition covers eleven states and almost every off-road discipline, from 1/8 buggy to dirt oval by way of monster truck.
Three perfect weekends: Miskolczi, Wright IV and Rand
The cleanest result belongs to Brian Miskolczi, at PLRC in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for the Backyard Nationals: three TQs and three wins, in 1/8 electric truggy, 1/8 electric buggy and 40+ 1/8 electric buggy. His son Layton Miskolczi rounds off the family weekend with second in electric truggy and fourth in buggy.
In Illinois, at the ROAR Region 5 1/8 off-road regionals held at River City Raceway in Peoria, Larry Wright IV posted a TQ-and-win double in both electric and nitro truggy. In Georgia, at the Watermelon Classic run by Augusta RC Supercross, Ryan Rand came away with two TQs converted into wins (Pro 1/8 electric buggy and 1/8 nitro truggy) plus second place in Pro nitro buggy. Owen Simmons, at the same event, took the TQ and the win in 40+ electric buggy, plus three further podiums.
From 1/8 to dirt oval: the week’s other results
- Chris Raceles (Southern California, SDRC, Endless Summer Series round 1): TQ and win in 40+ mod 2WD buggy, fourth in mod 2WD buggy
- Brian Rohde (Oklahoma, Shaw’s RC Track): TQ and win in Expert 1/8 electric buggy, third in Expert 1/8 nitro buggy
- William Ables (Mississippi, Magnolia X): TQ and win in 40+ electric buggy, TQ and second in Pro electric buggy
- Ilan Sanderson (Michigan, KMS Raceway): win in 1/8 electric buggy in a double A-main format
- Ryan Derenne (Wisconsin, The Yard RC Raceway): fourth in mod stadium truck
- Jeremy Bunting (California, Rescue RC Raceway): third overall in the Nor Cal monster truck series, second in the Retro class
- James Rodriguez (New Mexico, Flora Vista RC): TQ and win in Midwest Modified, two second places in 410 Outlaw Sprint and Late Model Modified
- David Fast (Iowa, Leighton Speedway): second in Late Model, fourth in 410 Sprint
A thermometer of the American regional scene
These weekly JConcepts updates do not carry the prestige of a national championship, but they give a precise reading of what is actually happening on American tracks in mid-summer: local series wrapping up their season, new championships opening and ROAR regionals all colliding on the same weekend. Dirt oval in particular takes up a growing share of these updates, with drivers alternating between buggy and sprint car from one weekend to the next.
