Teaser season is in full swing in 1/8 off-road. After several brands went through the exercise this week, HoBao Racing released the first images of an 1/8 RTR truggy on 13 August 2026, still without a name, a spec sheet or a release date.

A four-wheel-drive 1/8 RTR truggy aimed at bashing

The visuals leave little doubt about the brief: this is a four-wheel-drive truggy aimed at bashing rather than sanctioned racing. The suspension appears to run on pillow balls, a solution that allows generous travel and copes better with hard landings than traditional hinge pins. Everything else — power system, wheel size, on-board electronics, price — has not been disclosed by HoBao Racing.

An awaited HoBao return to the RTR segment

The Taiwanese manufacturer built its reputation in competition 1/8 nitro and electric with its Hyper range, and moving into a mainstream RTR truggy puts it up against well-established rivals. The pricing and the chosen power system remain to be seen: those are the two elements that will decide how the model is received once the teaser turns into an official announcement.

What to watch in the coming days

Teaser campaigns of this kind usually lead to a full reveal within one to two weeks. Things to watch: whether it is electric or nitro, the truggy wheel diameter chosen, and any parts compatibility with the existing Hyper range — a point that matters a lot to anyone who already owns a HoBao chassis.
