Redcat Racing is updating its smallest crawler: the Ascent-32 V2 keeps the ready-to-run 1/32 format of the original model, at 89.99 dollars, with a steel chassis, metal axles and four-link suspension.
Ascent-32 V2: a complete 1/32 RTR crawler for 89.99 dollars
The positioning is stated by the manufacturer: to welcome newcomers, inspire young drivers and give seasoned hobbyists an ultra-compact adventure machine. The vehicle is delivered ready to run, with radio, battery and charger included, and comes in four colours — red, pink, blue and green.
Steel chassis, metal axles and oil-filled shocks
Despite its tiny dimensions — 148 mm long, 98 mm wide, 85 mm high with a 105 mm wheelbase — the Ascent-32 V2 uses the architecture of larger-scale crawlers. The chassis is a 1 mm flat steel frame, the drivetrain is four-wheel drive with forward and reverse, and the straight axles are of metal construction with bearing-supported gears.
The suspension combines a four-link setup with oil-filled coilovers topped by aluminium caps. Ground clearance reaches 27 mm, a generous figure for the scale. The 20 mm wheels take 42 mm soft compound open-lug tyres.
On-board electronics and battery
The model is powered by an RC130 brushed motor with a 24.7:1 gear ratio. The 2.4 GHz radio system drives a 2-in-1 ESC/receiver unit compatible with 2S, and a water-resistant sub-micro servo (0.4 kg at 5.0 V) handles steering. Power comes from a 2S 7.4 V 180 mAh LiPo pack, supplied with its USB charger. The body opens with a clipless tilt-up system.
Option parts in partnership with Injora
A notable point for the platform’s lifespan: Redcat Racing announces a partnership with Injora to secure a supply of hop-up parts from launch — a genuine issue on micro crawlers, which are often limited by the absence of an aftermarket. The vehicle is covered by the one-year limited warranty applied across the Redcat range.
