Twenty-four hours after his electric truggy title, Ryan Maifield did it again at the 2026 ROAR 1/8 Nationals: the Tekno RC driver left the Silver Dollar RC Raceway in Chico, California, with the US national nitro truggy crown, won on 12 August.
2026 ROAR 1/8 Nationals: Maifield takes all three nitro truggy qualifying rounds
The domination was complete from qualifying onwards. Ryan Maifield set the fastest time in all three rounds, securing overall TQ without ever giving his rivals an opening. Behind him, Brandon Rose finished second in rounds 2 and 3, which was enough to line up on the second spot of the A-main grid.
An all-American podium in a strong field
In the main, the finishing order rewarded Ryan Maifield ahead of Seth VanDalen and Brandon Rose. VanDalen, already on the podium in the electric class the day before, confirmed his consistency across this Nationals weekend, while Rose turned a strong qualifying effort into a narrowly missed win.
The full final ranking of the nitro truggy class is as follows:
- Ryan Maifield
- Seth VanDalen
- Brandon Rose
- Phi-Long Nguyen
- Mason Fuller
- Dakotah Phend
- Jared Wiggins
- Jonah Wilson
- Chase Lemieux
- Aydin Horne
- Ryan Lutz
- Jimmy Fishback
- Jermaine Robinson
- Spencer Rivkin
- Spencer Heckert
Two titles in two days on the Chico dirt
This second consecutive title puts Ryan Maifield in an ideal position for the rest of the 2026 ROAR 1/8 Nationals, which still have to crown their buggy champions. The Tekno RC driver won the electric truggy title on the same track the day before, ahead of Spencer Rivkin and Seth VanDalen — a rare double that underlines his benchmark status in American 1/8 off-road.
