Spencer Heckert and Tekno RC will no longer travel together. The American driver confirmed on 11 August 2026 on his social media the end of his contract with the Californian brand, after two and a half years in its colours in 1/8 off-road.
Spencer Heckert leaves Tekno RC by mutual agreement
“After a great run together, Tekno RC and I have mutually decided to part ways,” the driver wrote. The tone remains courteous on both sides: this is not a fallout but the end of a cycle, as regularly happens in American race teams as the big end-of-season events approach.
Two and a half seasons with the Californian brand
Signed in early 2024, Spencer Heckert defended the Tekno RC buggies and truggies at the major American races, with several podiums to his name. He was part of a deep team, alongside Ryan Maifield and Seth VanDalen among others, where internal competition is as tough as it is on the track: this season, his results stayed behind those of his most prominent team-mates.
What next?
No destination has been made official at this stage. The paddock is talking about a move to Team Associated, but nothing has been confirmed by those involved: treat it as a rumour until the announcement is made. The driver has, however, said he intends to be on the entry list for the 2026 ROAR 1/8 Nationals in Chico, California — an event that will give a first indication of which chassis he will run.
